1 John 2:13-14

Fathers, because ye have known him [that is] from the beginning. These father have not known Christ in the flesh, but have walked with him long and realized his presence.

Young men, because you have overcome the wicked one. The special excellence of these Christian young men is that they have overcome the temptations of the evil one.

Little children, because ye have known the Father. These have known the Father, and can say, "Our Father who art in heaven" (Mt 6:9 Lu 11:2).
I have written unto you, etc. This verse, imitating the Hebrew parallelism, repeats with slight variations 1Jo 2:12,13.

1 John 4:4

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them. The saints had overcome these false prophets, but they were of God, because greater is he that is in you, and the Spirit in them was mightier than he that is in the world, than the evil spirit, that of the prince of the world, which was in the false prophets.

1 John 5:4-5

For whatsoever is born of God. All who are born again, and have the new life, overcometh the world, in the sense that they do not love it and obey its dictates.

The victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith. The source of victorious power. As faith gains in strength the world loses its power.
Who is he that overcometh the world? Only the men of faith; those who believe upon Jesus Christ.
